North Liverpool areas have contributed substantially to the success of the region, and also they boast some attractive local leisure spots. The region offers high street shopping, gift stores and numerous heritage sites. West Derby is one of the regions most historic areas, with attractive residential properties and a wide range of older buildings. Anfield is a local town that is home to Liverpool FC (and it was previously the home to Everton). Stanley Park, not to confused with the one in Vancouver, is a 45 hectare park situated between the football grounds. This park contains the 1899 Gladstone Conservatory building. Everton is one of Liverpool's most famous regions, being home to the "Greatie" market and a sandstone water tower built in 1864. An area increasing in popularity is "Old Swan", home to a variety of wine bars, restaurants, a cinema, and a bowling centre. Walton is a thriving area, home to Everton and nearby to regenerating Bootle. Aintree is located just North of Liverpool, known for its racecourse that stages the Grand National horse race. |

The city of Liverpool began as a tidal pool next to the Mersey. It was probably called "lifer pol" meaning muddy pool. It is not recorded in the Domesday Book (1086) but it may have been to inconsequential in size to deserve a mention of its own. King John founded the port of Liverpool in 1207. In 1515 a grammar school was founded in Liverpool. The first dock was built in 1715. From about 1730 the merchants of Liverpool made huge profits from the slave trade. In the 18th century sugar refining and shipbuilding became important industries in Liverpool. Rope making also flourished. Liverpool officially became a city in 1880. By 1901 the population of Liverpool had reached 685,000. In 1904 the boundaries of the city were extended again to include Fazakerly. Today the population of Liverpool is over 435,000. |

This is now implemented by inserting a Read more... tag (the button is located below the editor area) a dotted line appears in the edited text showing the split location for the Read more.... A new Plugin takes care of the rest. It is worth mentioning that this does not have a negative effect on migrated data from older sites. The new implementation is fully backward compatible. |
